The iPLAN scheme has been issued by DAFM through a recommendation from the Forest Policy Review Group (FPRG). This recommendation suggested a standardised data requirement for the issuance of management plans. 

DAFM wish to implement a system for efficient and cost effective management plans to assist forest owners and forest managers, like Green Belt. These plans will promote more pro-active management practices, delivering greater forest resilience and vitality across the private estate. It will enhance resilience versus threats such as storm damage, pestilence and fire. 

Financial support in the delivery and completion of this report is provided by the exchequer. The value of the support is €1,200 and each forest is applied for as one contiguous unit. Multiple forest owners can apply the iPLAN to each of their forests separately.
