Most people are keen to see what the impacts of Brexit and the new CAP scheme will have on the Beef, Dairy and Forestry scheme's, and of course the beef farmers protests are on everyone's lips.

There is no denying the landscape of Irish farming and agriculture is changing dramatically. Now is the time a more detailed and holistic approach is taken to the overall perspective of agriculture and the strong position forestry can play in the market. Regardless of species, there needs to be more planting carried out to support local rural jobs. But forestry establishment can be in numerous formats - shorter and longer term options all with the the environmental aspects taken into consideration. For many farmers, the income derived from beef or cattle production is low. This can be supplemented by planting a small percentage of their farm with forestry and enjoying the premiums, tax free.
