If you feel your plantation is ready for clear fell then please contact Green Belt direct or feel free to contact your local Forester. Your local Green Belt Forester will assess the stand and calculate the volume available for clear fell. These estimated volumes in conjunction with current market prices will allow us calculate the estimated tax free revenue available from the proposed clear fell.
Your Green Belt forester will also agree a fee on 'day one' based on a percentage of the revenue made from the clear fell this fee structure ensures that both your interests and our interests are aligned in trying to maximize the revenue from the clear fell.
Once agreement has been reached your local Green Belt Forester will then process the appropriate felling license, address the issue of a harvesting plan which takes into consideration timber harvesting, haulage and any environmental concerns that may arise during felling.

Like all commodities timber is not immune from the highs and lows of the world's economy. It is comforting to know that trees have a long shelf life and while a plantation may be ready for clearfelling in 2004, it will continue to grow well, increasing in value for many more years, thus allowing the grower to choose the optimum time for harvesting.
Forecasting timber prices is normally estimated using the average price paid for timber over the preceding ten to fifteen years including inflation. This system will give an accurate figure and will avoid short term distortions in the market place.
Over it's rotation at current prices it is possible to achieve a cumulative return of €7,618, from one acre of well managed forest. Given this income from timber, plus a total premium return of €3,810 you reach a figure of €11,428 per acre over 32 years, i.e. €357 per acre per annum tax-free. These returns refer to a properly managed plantation.
