Eastern Region - includes all the counties of Leinster

Traditionally this is an area where farming and forestry have co-existed in harmony. This relationship is now evolving and where forestry was common place in the uplands and traditional farming practices in the lowlands, farmers are now looking to forestry as an alternative crop.

In Leinster, with all its good agricultural land there are still areas on most farms where forestry would complement the other farming activities. The planted area will not only provide shelter for livestock, it will also provide the farmer with a tax free income, and each year the crop is nearing harvesting and thus providing the final nest egg pension tax free.
